This week’s podcast is from New York, Long Island. We visited EON a combination café, inn, gallery and spa in Southold on route 25. The café at EON which stands for Elements of Nature represents locally available products and only Long Island wines, even exclusive to the North Fork. We met with the owner and host of EON, Michael Miller who gives attention to design and details in everything including the cuisine and the atmosphere which has a feel of a comfortable mini-resort.

We met with Christine Nowack and Robert Kern who gave us a tour and a tasting of their Five-O White and Five-O Red. We also discovered the name Martha Clara is an homage to the vintner’s mother who ran Entenmann’s Bakery until she was 90 years old.

03: Complete Fox Run Vineyards, NY

Completed version. We visit the Finger Lakes region of New York near Seneca Lake. The Fox Run Vineyards tasting of the Riesling was everything the region is known for! We also tasted their delicious Cabernet Franc beside a gorgeous lakeside view. Seneca Falls is rich in history, and we spend some time in the Women's Rights National Historical Park.

02: Warwick Valley Winery, NY

We visit New York’s first fruit micro-distillery, Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery and taste their famous Doc’s Hard Cider and Bourbon Barrel Aged Apple Port. Further down the road we tour the historic Iron Forge Inn, Restaurant and Tap Room. Head Chef, Erik Johansen shows us the Lincoln room, where the president may have enjoyed a meal. We wrap up this episode featuring Warwick Valley Winery’s regulars; Red Molly, and their original song titled, “Long Island Cowboy.”

The Wine Scout visits Alison Winery in Red Hook for a tasting of their rose and their 2002 Cabernet Franc. We visited the Tarapin Bistro in Rhinebeck and the Millbrook Vinyard. This trip to the Dutchess Wine Trail was planned by Debbie Gioquindo from Exclusive Wine Vacations.
